What I Ate Wednesday: Summer Snacks and Such

Hello Hello, and welcome back to What I Ate Wednesday!! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and an easy week thus far :) I participated in the Philly Livestrong 5k on Saturday, and it really made my weekend amazing. Read all about my experience here! As always, a big thank you to Jenn over at Peas and Crayons for hosting the part-ayyyy.

Peas and Crayons

This past week and weekend I had some delicious eats, and though I was not able to capture them all, here's a glimpse at my summer-y snacks and staples.

I have been munching on Simply Granola for the past week, and finally got down to the bottom of the bag. My friend, cousin, and I were going to see Hope Springs, and I needed something to snack on during the film. I decided to make my own version of a trail mix... Granola, Dark Chocolate Chips, Raisins, and Nature's Promise Organic Granola Sticks. Perfect healthy alternative to movie theater popcorn (not that I wasn't seriously tempted once I was hit in the face with its salty aroma upon entering the theater...).

One word: YUM. I am a long time lover of a good caprese salad, but this was just so fresh and juicy and delicious that words can barely describe. My cousin assembled this for the family, and we all loved it so much that we didn't even use plates!

Gorgeous, juicy, fresh, local, white peaches from Whole Foods. I am seriously into the descriptor words today, huh?

I used those beauts to make these scrumptious muffins! Whole Wheat Banana Peach Muffins. Click here to see my full post about making the muffs. Healthy, light, summery, and a recipe that I will definitely keep in my repertoire for the future!

Vegetable Pizza on a Whole Wheat Crust from our local pizza place. This tasted really homemade. No one like it but me (typical), but I really enjoyed its chewy and hearty crust and cheesy veggies.

Cereal is my favorite weekend breakfast. I don't know why, but it just seems to taste so much better when I am relaxing on a Saturday morning out on my deck or in front of the tv. This bowl contained Kashi Heart to Heart, Trader Joe's Raisin Bran Clusters, banana, a sprinkle of truvia and cinnamon, and Organic skim milk.

My cereal was enjoy alongside a few cups of coffee (read: 4. yep 4 cups of coffee....so unnecessary, but so so good!).

Some lovely roasted veggies to top my sandwiches and salads all week long.

Bright, fresh Organic strawbs.

Amazing new beer that I just tried with my Dad at Frankford Hall in Fishtown (Philadelphia).

Bulmer is getting so tall!!!! He hopes everyone has a fabulous Wednesday too ;)

What kind of snacks do you bring to the movies?
What's your newest favorite beer?
Do you ever prep foods on the weekend to use all week long?

  2. Wow, the granola looks so delish, and so do a lot of your other eats - the muffins, roasted veggies and expecially the beer - oh my, I already miss it (went on a 4 week no alcocohl challenge - for my mums health issues)...

    1. I was at the same place three weeks ago when I decided that I NEEDED to have roasted veggies to liven up my lunches at work, so now every Sunday I've been prepping salad fixings to last all week long!!

  9. WOW seriously everything looks amazing! I ADORE caprese salad--especially with summer home grown tomatoes. Great idea putting bananas, peaches, and chocolate together in muffins too. But what really gets me is that PIZZA! I'll admit it-I don't think I've seen a more appealing pie ever in my life! Thanks for sharing!
